Force in Newtons divided by area in mm\u00b2 gives stress directly in megapascals (MPa) — a unit most engineering material specs (yield strength, tensile strength) are already given in, which is more convenient than converting to Pascals for typical part sizes.
Not by itself — you'd need to compare this calculated stress against the material's yield strength or ultimate tensile strength (from a materials reference) to know if it's within a safe margin.
